Y'all might have seen this on Andy, but here is the new OPH coming out in August. Boatshoe posted a link to this preview:

http://knopfdoubleday.com/marketing/boo ... epBlad.pdf

Here's the Amazon link:

http://www.amazon.com/True-Prep-Its-Who ... 142&sr=8-1

It says hardcover but at $14 I'm skeptical. Would be nice to have a hardcover to sit next to the hardcover OPH. I'm sure I'll end up buying a copy. I myself dont worry about the whole 'trad' vs. 'preppy' vs. ivy thing.

Anyway, it looks like it might be funny. What y'all think?

Take's me back a bit to those misty days when the OPH first came out and we laughed at how people took it seriously. Should be good for a laugh now too.

I read the preview and thought it looked promising. Just the right combination of familiarity and tongue-in-cheek. I'll buy a copy for old times' sake.

I'll get it just to see if they get the different types of people right. I'm a little surprised there is so much J. Crew in the preview.

I thought the same thing.

Didn't stop me from pre-ordering a copy, though.

^I think you missed the 'Sponsored by the J. Crew Liquor Store' line in the teaser

I do know a lot of younger folks who wear J. Crew. Seems that it is a better representative of young preppy rather than Bean or Brooks. Cole Haan loafers seemed more off to me - Cole Haan? who wears those?

I used to. They were pretty good, too. But when they wore out, I found they were no longer made. Come to think of it, that's how I stumbled onto this internet clothing thing, searching for a replacement for those shoes.

I guess the "pinch penny" is the one they're referring to in the book?

Not sure what that "pinch" moniker is all about, assuming you don't buy 'em too narrow.

FWIW, On my old ones, I think the strap went all the way down to the welt. (but you had to look hard to notice that)

The chapter digest looks good. Probably don't have to actually read the thing.

Best thrift shop in McLean, Va. is the Treasure Trove on Old Chain Bridge Road.

On a related note, I received word today from Amazon that my pre-ordered copy of "Take Ivy" has shipped. Curiously, it beat my pre-ordered copy of "True Prep."

Interesting, Topsider and Georgia. I pre-ordered both books from Amazon, and yet I haven't heard a word yet. Hopefully I'll get confirmation soon.
