In roughly 1977 my father gave me his camel's hair sport jacket which I believe was a Deansgate. It was magnificent; thickest and softest camel's hair I ever saw either then or since.

Another Bean item I've been debating shows up at the thrift store:

^ Brian, I've also been considering ordering this jacket new. Any thoughts on how it is and why on earth it was at the thrift?

The jacket I picked up is an older version since it has patch pockets. One of my friends has this year's version and he must like it a lot 'cause he wears it all the time ;)

Where the heck is that jacket on the LLB site? I can't find it for the life of me...

I was wondering that too. I love patch pockets.

Kind of a big day for me today. I picked up two shirts, two ties (small paisley patterns), and a pair of LL Bean Khaki cords.

One of the shirts is a Gitman Bro's club collar made for my local men's shop, M.H. Frank. $2.50 is a lot better than whatever it costs over there.

Conor.

I do like the patch pockets and congratulate you on your find. The new one with the flaps seems good, too, and since your friend wears his new model a lot...well...I think I'll give myself another night's sleep on this one but it's looking good right now for a purchase.

Thanks for the pictures and the info!

Hmm...I hope the sleeves aren't really as long as they appear on the model. :S

The whole jacket is entirely too long, sheesh!

I found a PRL blackwatch sportscoat today at one of those bohemian second hand stores in the city. I paid $30 for it. 3/2 roll, undarted, tags still attached. Odd thing though, it is sized L as opposed to an exact measurement. I figured for the price, why not?

I hope they just put a "long"-sized jacket on a "regular"-sized model. Let us know how yours fits. I'm potentially interested in one, too...but not if I have to get it altered.

The one I have fits me fine, it's a 44R, I normally wear a 44L. Don't forget you get free shipping & returns w/ the Bean card.

Finally found a Brooks Brothers 3/2 navy sack in my size. Non-BB-cursive label...I'll post pictures when it gets back from the cleaners.

Got some pretty nice finds this morning.

Lands End Viyella shirt:

Brown Wool Pendleton Cardigan:

And a pretty cool Pendleton wool coat:

Maybe not strictly trad, but I was looking for something a little warmer than a sport coat.
