Been listening to a lot of Paul Desmond lately. I love Bird and adore Art Pepper, but for me, Desmond is the man on alto--particularly on ballads. If you like jazz and haven't heard "Balcony Rock," then you really need to check out this LP:

^ I love that album.

As for me, Jason Isbell's Southeastern, more Future Islands, and the Grand Budapest Hotel soundtrack.

This Drive-By Truckers song inspired me to do a little reading/listening and really changed my opinion on Skynyrd. Also some interesting thoughts on Gov. George Wallace.

^ I've always loved that song. Being a New England boy from an entirely different generation the Wallace story was a little out of my wheelhouse at first, but the central theme of the record of having a love/hate relationship with where you grew up is so spot on and universal.

I've been enjoying the design podcast 99% Invisible. A great podcast if you enjoy architecture and design in general, all weaved into a pleasant This American Life style narrative. Some great topics, the episode about how lawyers create those over the top, tacky commercials is a particular favorite.

Apparel related hits from the late 50s: At least from the popular song perspective the late 50s were a VERY FLASHY time!

1959: recorded by Dodie Stevens - Rose to #3 on Billboard's top 100. In the Top 100 for 26 weeks.
Tan shoes and Pink Shoe Laces: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGgaZZl_GVg

1957: Recorded by Marty Robbins - Rose to #1 on the Country Music Top 100, #2 on the Billboard 100 and was #1 in several countries other than the US.

I like the idea of posting playlists.

This is what I've been playing in the car this week:

In the car I generally just keep tuned to Sirius/XM Symphony Hall Channel. It's kind of like wearing the OCBD and khakis uniform every day. I like it and I don't have to make a lot of decisions.
