Speaking of CSNY: Have you heard Just Roll Tape, Stephen Stills's album of acoustic demos?

Lately for me: Neil Young (After the Gold Rush, Harvest) and Gillian Welch. Also the kitschy, bordering-on-elevator-music bossa nova of organist Walter Wanderly. Like something you might hear playing in a laundromat on a summer day.

Related: I bought a beefy 1970s Onkyo receiver at Goodwill this afternoon and am looking forward to taking it for a spin. It's no Marantz but is a step up from what I have.

One long-time favorite: The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan

One new-to-me favorite: Photographs by Robert Ellis

We're moving closer into the city but into a smaller place, so I've been digitizing old CDs lately, which has been generating an interesting smattering of older stuff I never get around to like Cardinal or Dennis Wilson, albums I don't usually grab by the typical favorites like 'Tonight's the Night,' or stuff that I never should have stopped listening to all the time like 'Separation Sunday' and 'Random Spirit Lover.' Slowly making my way into an all vinyl and digital experience.

The Last Bison.

They're local (from Chesapeake, VA). I just discovered them through their new Christmas EP.

If you're a fan of indie folk/roots/acoustic type stuff, check 'em out.

The National- Trouble Will Find Me, my favorite album of theirs yet

Chet Baker Sings. My study music as of late.

And Justin Townes Earle, especially "Can't Hardly Wait" a great cover of one of my favorite Replacements songs

Bill Evans, an eight albums on four CD collection I found on Amazon for something crazy like $8.

^ I'll have to find that JTE cover, I didn't know it existed. I love the 'Mats and 'Let it Be' is one of my favorite albums of all time.

As for me, I was listening to 'Lonesome Crowded West' on the commute this morning. If you don't know Modest Mouse other than 'Float On,' I would highly recommend digging up some of their older stuff.

Not a song, but a podcast- The Memory Palace. A sort of creative non-fiction podcast I guess. Episodes are very short (>15 minutes). I especially liked Episode 47 and 48. Highly recommended.

The new Future Islands album 'Singles', which is amazing, saw them live last night and the lead singer's stage presence is just amazing. Happy to say there was a small continent of 60 to 70 year olds who had seen them perform on Letterman last week (which I encourage everybody to look up). Letterman was unusually excited by their act, normally he seems kinda bored.
