Well, their drummer is a friend to Midge Ure and often backs him, so the keyboard/synth aesthetic is firmly entrenched in the band.

Midge may be the best thing to ever to come from the lowlands....Ms. Easton looks better, though. ;)

If you like Mark Brzezicki (BC's drummer), you'll probably like Casbah Club.

FYI, I agree with you about Midge Ure. I liked Ultravox in the 80's, as well.

Lately i'm making may way through some of my vinyl pickups from my west coast trip. Very impressed with Blackout Beach, The Men, Shabazz Palaces, Sharon Van Etten, and Motion Sickness of Time Travel so Far. Some new, some I already had but not on vinyl, some more not mentioned and yet to hear.

The first Midge-fronted UV album in twenty-six years comes out tomorrow.

"The Essential Glenn Miller."

Glenn Miller always makes me nostalgic for the Greatest Generation, appropriately enough on Memorial Day. These remastered tracks are particularly good.

Found the Jimmy Buffett box set, "Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads" at a thrift store this weekend. Listening to it in the comfort of air conditioning. Way too hot to be on a boat or at the beach!

Have this and love it. Congrats on the great find! Saw him this past year in Dallas and enjoyed it immensely.

A man of good taste in music as well as food. Forgot to thank you for the Dallas restaurant suggestions, they were great.

Hey, thanks. BTW--upon a recent revisit to Fearing's, I would issue an immediate pass. Food and service have slipped substantially. But, as always, a couple of places move to the fore:

Have a great weekend!

"Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook"

Great voice, great songs. Two CDs, too.

^I love that Fitzgerald record, but right now I love The People's Temple, "Sons of Stone," more.

This album is this generation's version of "The Velvet Underground and Nico." Hardly anyone will buy it, but half of those who do will start a band.

And those bands will suck. No matter. You need this album.
