Anyone catch Wes Anderson's latest film? I heard Bill Murray was killing it in Madras. . . . think I'll try to catch it this weekend at the Angelika.

Not yet. I was geared up to see it opening weekend, but then discovered it was in limited release. I just found it open in Greenwich, though, so I'll be catching it as soon as I can.

I saw it yesterday. The rumors were right about Bill Murray and the madras pants.

I enjoyed it and I think if you liked other Wes Anderson movies, you'll enjoy it as well. (I liked almost all of his movies, though Life Aquatic was a bit weak, and I didn't bother seeing Darjeeling Limited because the reviews were dreadful.) As with most movies from a director with a cult following, it's best to see it in an empty theater. (Too many die hard fans in the theater ruins the experience.)

It's better than Life Aquatic, but probably not as good as Rushmore, which is my favorite. Wes Anderson's main vice is that he will sometimes turn his characters into a piece of set decoration. When he goes overboard, as I think he did in Life Aquatic, it seems like his characters are just a collection of costumed quirks, and you feel no empathy for them because they don't seem human. He mostly avoids that in Moonrise Kingdom. The quirkiness is there, but there is enough of a story so that the quirks don't overwhelm the narrative.

I went and saw it yesterday. I enjoyed it very much. I agree with what Boatshoe wrote above, very accurate. I did count 3 maybe 4 pair of madras trouser, too!
