The wife and I watched Gone Baby Gone last week. We were pleasantly surprised with the movie. I thought about the ending for a few days after the movie and another scene in the movie.

What movies have you recently seen or planning on watching?

I recently watched Deconstructing Harry. This film is an absolute riot. Woody has definitely grown on me.

I've been on a Bond kick lately. That could be a whole thread in itself.

I also dusted off Raising Arizona not too long ago...it doesn't get much better.

Dr. Strangelove was on the other day. Great movie. "There's no fighting in the War Room!"

No Country for Old Men was a good one. Bardem's hair is both goofy looking and creepy. It took me about half the movie to realize Llewelyn (Josh Brolin) was Brand from the Goonies.

Superbad was pretty funny, my wife hated it though.

Stop Loss started out pretty good, but it seemed rushed at the end.

Vantage Point was a pretty good one. It drove my wife crazy to have them rewind the scene and then switch character viewpoints. She didn't like Memento for the same reason. I, however, loved Memento.

The Dark Knight. I have seen it twice now, and will definitely buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Be Kind, Rewind. Both of us liked this one. It started out as a goofy, mindless movie, but the ending was really great.

Juno. My pregnant wife wanted to see this one, but I actually enjoyed it. Good soundtrack too...Mott the Hoople, Sonic Youth, Patti Smith etc.

I saw that one a while ago, but I agree that it was a good one. You're right about the ending...it stuck with me as well.

We just started watching the "Thin Man" series on disc from Netflix. Started with the first movie this past weekend, and have "After the Thin Man" teed up for tonight. Recommended for the witty dialogue alone.

Some of my absolute favorites.

Yeah, the second movie wasn't as good. The scenes in the beginning with Asta and "Mrs. Asta" were cute, though.

"Another Thin Man" is queued up next. Netflix apparently only has four of the six "Thin Man" films, "Song of the Thin Man" being the other one. I'll have to look elsewhere for the other two.

I think they all get aired on TCM from time to time.

We got rid of TV a long ways back and have watched several series on Netflix. I have been surprised quite a few times and enjoyed some series that I turned my nose up at when they were on TV. Rescue Me turned out to be one of my favorite series and I just finished Battlestar Galactica and thought it was about as perfect as a series can get. Ended quickly enough to feel like one big story arc and very seldom put a foot wrong.

Not much on the horizon, though, so we're thinking of tackling the West Wing again.

We too eschewed TV quite some time ago, when the to-be stepson & family moved out and quit paying for part of the cable. With no digital converter box, and our old set, we were left without a signal. And no worse off for it.
I miss the Tour and some of the spring cycling classics, Moto-GP, and rally, but that's about it. We can still get anything we want from netflix, but really don't desire a lot. We can always go over to the now stepson's and watch whatever we like on the flat screen that I think is bigger than my car. Funny how our priorities differ ;o).

Watching "High Society," with Grace Kelly and some other people. Um, Bing something, and that Sinatra guy.

Did I mention Grace Kelly was in it...?

Rescue Me is great. About to finish it (sometime). FX has great shows. If you liked that you might enjoy Justified (redneck Marshall style stuff) and Sons of Anarchy (biker gang stuff). Both on instant Netflix last I checked.
