I've been wearing incredibly filthy fishing shirts and pants, the better to get at

a) largemouth bass

b) wild brook trout that are almost black in color

c) Housatonic smallmouth bass

Something about the miracle wicking fabrics of "technical" clothing causes them to get really, really dirty, to the point where washing them seems a waste of time.

Went to Diehl Marcus & Company in East Hollywood last night to hear Craig Owens (on the right in this picture) "Haunted Los Angeles" presentation.

Brooks Brothers silk and wool blend Golden Fleece jacket, ecru PPBD shirt, and (pre OPH) cotton and polyester blend white trousers, Bow Tie Club tie, generic pocket square, and (hardly showing in the picture) Allen-Edmonds shoes.

On our 56th Anniversary:

She was beautiful at our wedding and I was... well dressed. :-(

All these years later, she is still beautiful and I... well, I'm still well dressed.

In the upper 40s down here in bustling Lakeville, which means it was about 40 up on Mt Riga, where I am returning today to eke out the last few warmish days. The old farmhouse on Riga has no electricity, minimal running water ( a single line that runs into the kitchen sink), and a very efficient woodstove. I only came down for a couple nights because I had a lot to do for work and it's easier to get started when there are things like a shower and internet.

So it is with great reluctance that I am stowing the summer casual shirts, and digging out the winter replacements. I already deployed the flannel shirts. These are heftier.

It's very quiet up there now that the summer people have decamped. I get enough of a cell signal to see emails and to know that someone is calling, but not enough to actually answer the phone.

Great place to catch up on my reading
