An old buddy of mine is dating my boss. That means he's around a lot. I gave him a slew of ribbon belts I never use and now he's gone completely nuts. He woke me up at 6 a.m. to ask my opinion of a belt from Brooks Brothers. I told him he should hang himself with it.

Reminds me of, well, me, when I first started getting into this thing in a big way. Dangerous hobby if not carefully controlled.

I think it is this part wherein the potential danger lies, not the belts.

My friend called me up out of the blue the other day to complain about guys wearing cargo shorts. He was positively indignant.

Perhaps he should become a Curriculum member? Or would that add an unnecessary layer of complexity to your friendship?

I've seen this before. Fly-fishing. Wood-working. Jazz. Enthusiasms that started out very strong and sputtered in the stretch, leaving a wake of garages and storage units filled with stuff.

(I think I just mixed about four metaphors there.)
