Found the last pair of Bass Logan's in tan (in my size) on Amazon for a DEEP discount (roughly 72% off). The corrected grain version available in burgundy and black did not agree with the shape of my foot when I tried it two years ago. However, this tan version is made from a different type of leather which seems more forgivable and light as a feather. It's not great by any means, but I'd venture to say it was comfortable right out of the box. I don't think I will need to break these in at all. I do wish these had brown edge dressing instead of black but I'm sure it will rub off in no time and I won't notice it as much. All in all, different leather and a deep discount makes me a happy man.

Some cool ties. I seriously needed some skinny ones, too, for my skinny lapel jackets.

L-R: Briar leprechaun (for St. Patrick's Day), National Arms of the U.S.A.by Rooster 'Ruffler Collection,' unbranded silk/wool, and the label for the last all-wool tie is below.

I've never seen anything from O'Connell's at a thrift store. Sanforized, too:

Not something I purchased, but something you don't see every day -- a vintage (1940s?) Tweed suit with plus fours. Found it at a vintage clothing store.

The cloth on this three-button suit (English, I assume) is extraordinary. Heavy, thick, bullet and thorn-proof. Very handsome greenish/brown tweed with a red windowpane. No interior label, just a couple tags with some cryptic printed numbers. It may have been bespoke.

Adjustable waist tabs and adjustable leather cuffs on the trousers:

This suit is in extraordinary condition and appears practically brand new. Sadly, way too small for me. It might be a size 36. I don't think I'd get away with plus fours in any event!

That's awesome! Was it pricey? If not, you might've been able to flip it for a profit on eBay.

I thought of buying it to flip, but it was priced at $95. I don't know how much demand there would be for something like this in a smaller size. Maybe in Japan? Hmmm....thinking now.

$95 is kind of a risk. I'm not sure I'd chance it.

Yeah, if it were half that price, maybe. I wouldn't want to be stuck with it, even though I appreciate the cloth.

I did a ting…..went in for some socks and came out with a lot more. Hunter green cable-knit ‘extra fine’ merino sweater, grey v-neck supima cotton sweater, and another ribbon belt. All 80% off. Gotta love it when the new inventory arrives and they’re basically giving stuff away.

New (to me) Brooks Brothers madras. 3/2 roll, mother of pearl buttons, half lined, the whole shebang.

I bought a three fiberglass fly rods, two from Cabelas and one super-cheapie Eagle Claw.

For those so inclined, the Cabelas CGR glass rods are not very expensive to begin with, $150 range, but for whatever reason they've been selling them off for $65-70. You might expect to be getting a cheap piece of made-in-China junk, but far from it. I have the 6.5 foot 4 weight and the 7 foor 5 weight. Despite the close specs they are very different rods, but both are a slow action without being whippy the way old glass rods can be. Both three-piece.

The Eagle Claw was a lark, $25. Came in a box, wrapped in plastic. No packing materials, no sock, no case. Amazed it wasn't damaged.

I thought the worst case for the rod -- 6.5 foot 3/4 weight, works best with #4 double taper -- would be giving it to the young cousins to use to fish for panfish.

But it's actually a respectable small stream trout rod in its own right. Not as good as the Cabelas, but not terrible.

And this fishing hat. I always wanted a hat like this. Dorfman Pacific, 75 octton 25 poly. Repels rain, until it doesn't.
