The spring and summer gear was stowed several weeks ago, and of course we just had a week of balmy temps. Now back to normal at 45 degrees and spitting.
Dug out the Viyella and the lined chinos. Steamed and brushed the tweeds. (I haven't worn a tie for months, except as a moral-building exercise back in April.)
Also for you fans of Duluth's shorts, their Buck Naked long johns are made of the same stuff and, somewhat to my surprise, function very well as a base layer for outdoor, chilly weather activities, such as standing in a river waving a stick. Better in some ways than straight-up thermals, with less chance of overheating.
I need a good fleece layer. I have a couple of Lands End cheapies and they're okay for lounging around the house but not so good for extended angling sessions.
