I thrifted these nice wool Lands' End pants a while back. They need a little tailoring for length, but because they're a mid-gray herringbone pattern, I'm not exactly sure what to pair with them. The cloth weight tends more toward heavy than light.

Since most of my tweed jackets are some variation of herringbone, I'm not sure they would work. Maybe a solid camelhair jacket? Blackwatch plaid?

I feel kinda stumped and would like some input from you guys. What would you wear with them?

I think they'd look good with a camelhair jacket or a navy blazer, especially doeskin.

Navy or hunter green flannel blazer, blackwatch plaid, maybe a brown corduroy jacket.

Thanks, fellas. Yeah, doeskin would be great. I've got a brushed wool navy blazer that might work. Also a bottle green corduroy I could try. My camel hair and blackwatch plaid jackets are on the lighter side and may not pair well with the weight of the pants. I'll experiment a little.

I guess the key here is to pair the pants with a solid jacket, while avoiding herringbone or broken bone patterns.

Blazer definitely. Solid shirt and tie. Let the pants do the work.

I've got a pair like that made of heavy hairy wool (I think they are Polo). I don't pair them with a jacket at all. I wear them in snowy weather with layers of other stuff. I've even worn them under Gore Tex waders for winter fishing.

Yeah, this is what I was going to suggest. Shetland sweater and those AE Leeds you recently picked up...

Some great ideas guys, thanks! I hadn't considered wearing them without a jacket for some reason. Why not, indeed.
