I guess its an extension of that "normcore" trend from a few years ago

After spending a day at the Boston Calling music festival last month I was surprised by how many of the 18-25yr olds in attendance were dressed in a similar way, everything very 1990s, lots of acid washed denim, mostly high waisted and cut off, vans or chucks sneakers, over sized tops in gaudy colors or tie dye

Seems like a good thing to me. Before I found the word Trad I thought I was just extremely normcore.

I think with that age group there's something really powerful about nostaglia for something they don't quite remember, or just missed, because if you're that young now you weren't around for those things the first time in the 90s.

It's sort of similar to how when I was in that 18-25 age range, as a college student in the early 2000s,it was really hip to be into all things 80s. Me and my cohort were born in the early 80s and didn't dance to New Order and Prince the first time around.

It hasn't penetrated to the sticks yet. Not to these sticks, anyway. I saw a young father of my acquaintance pushing a stroller the other day. Skinny jeans, untucked skinny shirt with collar flying around like a swallow returning to Capistrano, goofy shoes, and man bun. If I didn't know otherwise I'd assume the stroller was a prop.
