With this picture, I'm gonna end my Madras posts. I've got a very few more pieces somewhere, but I'm not up to doing a Basement to Attic search.

Image

Died, woven, and patchwork sewn in Chennai, India The cloth is a bit heavier than Summer Madras and it works for me to extend the Madras season into earlier Spring and latish Fall. It's also my favorite Madras shirt.

I'm very eager to see how others wear their Madras items.

This pair of Bermudashorts is NOT Bleeding Madras. It IS a pair of Patchwork men's shorts constructed from all-cotton shirt fabrics, and offered by the Andover Shop.I'm quite smitten with it, but I'm pretty sure I'm more smitten by having the $225 in my wallet!

^ I've seen those in the shop, they are a sight to behold

But I agree, don't think I'd ever spend that on shorts

Here's another example of how great vintage Lands' End madras used to be. Lightweight, soft to the touch, vivid colors, and made in the USA. Doesn't get much better than this!

I love how it claims that it "may contain slight variations."

Thanks, Billax! I'm a huge fan of vintage Lands End stuff. Anything with the same navy "Direct Merchants" label above.

For that time when you'd rather dip your toes in the water and not dive right into GTH. NWT subdued madras pants from Bill's Khakis:

Wearing Madras and standing on the corner of Bloody Basin Road and Nonchalant Avenue.

One of the famous Jos. A. Banks $7.99 Toyo Straw hats, Brooks Brothers Madras jacket and blue and white gingham PPBD shirt, Lauren Ralph Lauren heraldic tie, Robert Talbott pocket square, Leatherman blue and tan surcingle belt, Orvis trousers, and Allen-Edmonds shoes.

These are re-runs...

PRL Philip pants. Baggy as hell on me since I've lost weight. I might have to get them altered.

Image

This Berle shirt was an XL, so I left it in the thrift store. Probably could've flipped it online, in retrospect.

The Mrs. loves madras, too.

You're in good company. I pulled out my summer shirts and shorts recently and was almost overwhelmed by the volume! But we can't just take a pass on a nice madras shirt, can we?
