I've been to the Harvard Square store several times, but never made it to the Andover Branch before. It's quite an experience, and easily four or five times the size of the shop in Cambridge. While I was there I snapped a few quick pics that I thought you guys might enjoy:

With a closet overflowing, and a move upcoming, I didn't spring for much:

Just a new watch band, in seasonally appropriate colors.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I will be in Boston next month and was considering checking out the Andover location, since I have already been to the Cambridge location myself.

Damn, I love those patchwork tweeds. Probably beyond my reach, though.

Thanks for posting the pics! It's like a dream store.

Thank you for the field report, LC. Great pics.

For me, it has been too long.

Thanks so much for the pictures! I've been to the Harvard Square store a bunch, but never to the Andover branch. I've got to go! And I've got to get one of those patch tweed jackets!!

Thanks for the kind words gents, glad you appreciated the photos.

Agreed on those patchwork tweeds Gamma, they also had these really amazing patchwork shorts that I was tempted by but didn't end up getting.

When was the last time you were there Ensiferous? Does it look different?

Also, I took that second shot of the Alden wall because there are several boxes with the old Alden logo (don't know if you guys caught that). I'm no expert, but I think that means they've been sitting there for 20+ years.

Around ten years ago, or so, LC. From what I can recall, it doesn't look very different.

Sounds about right, in the 5 years I've been in Boston the Cambridge shop hasn't changed a lick. I imagine it's been the same for much longer than that as well.

One more thing about the Andover branch I'll share; as I was chatting with the gentleman at the register I mentioned that I'd never been to this location before, and he said that I should come back anytime (a much different response than one would expect in the Cambridge store!), and that I was welcome even if it was to hang out in the chairs in the back of the shop, because the students of the local prep school do the same all the time.

So after many years of following this style, I've finally visited a true campus shop. They still exist and aren't merely the subject of posts on online forums or Ivystyle.com.

Unrelatedly: If you make it out to Andover, spend some time at the Ward Reservation, it's beautiful.

Sounds silly given all the attractive merchandise, but I love the carpeting. It feels like a signal that Things Haven't Changed.

I.spent half a day there ten yrs ago or so. Staff very accommodating. Even made a school scarf for me while I was there. Great ambience. Out of the way but much larger than Cambridge; only bettered by my day in O'Connells.
