How does the membership feel about the Woolrich brand?

It seems that the vintage items (especially the hunt coat) are as classic as they come. But today's Woolrich is rarely mentioned in the forums.

I sense that in the years Woolrich moved production out of the U.S., people have felt there was a significant drop in quality. But I wonder if this is a fair assessment, since L.L.Bean and other brands offer their fair share of "imported" goods.

My only Woolrich items are vintage, so I have no experience with the new stuff. I received a Woolrich catalog in the mail recently, which inspired my curiosity. Some of the items, like the Wool Alaska Shirt and the Oxbow Bend flannel shirts, look interesting.

Found a fairly recent heavy tweed shirt jacket at a Goodwill a week or two ago. It was 'imported' but felt really nice and was quite an attractive olive tweed too, it felt pretty heavy duty and did not have that 'cheap' feeling to it at all. Unfortunately it was an XL so I passed.

I think they have some decent items but you need to be selective. The quality is midrange - you're not buying heirloom items here but they're serviceable. They also seem to share the same dowdy but earnest stylists with LLBean.

I have their current wool insulated vest and like it quite a bit:

I also have an Elmer Fudd-type wool hat with brim and shearling earflaps (zero degree temps should be an excuse for something):
