Found an Orvis WWII mechanic’s sweater today at Goodwill. I assumed it was vintage, but was surprised to learn that it’s still offered. I paid something less than $119 for it...

Very nice find. I've been looking for an original Army version of this five-button sweater for some time.

A couple thrift finds from the past few weeks. Pretty excited about this pair of NOS authentic madras pants. They’re in mint condition. I love the tag that states; “Slubs and misweaves which appear in this fabric are not considered imperfections. They are inherent properties of this cloth and contribute to its uniqueness and natural beauty.” If you're a fellow thrifter you live for finding stuff like this.

Also picked up a couple of these 60/40 LL Bean ocbd’s. Complete with flap pockets and a little slot for a pen.

Finally, there’s the tried and true, blue Makers ppbd from Brooks Brothers. I have too many already but I will always make room for another.

I'll be hiring a security detail shortly so don't even think about it.

Every time I find one of those old Bean flap-pocket shirts, they're worn out. Those look like new. I'd almost hate to cut the tags off those pants.

LL,

Great Bean tattersalls.

(Wait a minute....LL.... maybe that's why you are so charmed and got those LLB shirts.)

I'm really struggling with that part of it. I still haven't removed them. I likely won't make a decision about their future for another couple months.

Snazzy, Gamma! That word is reserved only for Madras sport coats only ... and only for the best of them!

WOW Gamma, that's great madras

This came in recently via eBay:
Image

I have a few other vintage Brooksflannels and they've all shrunk a little bit, via something done by the previous owners, so I sized up one half this time. Excited about this one, it's a 6 button front, with a rare for Brooks flap pocket, and the nicest collar around.

Also I was saying on here a little while ago that eBay has gotten less crazy now that #menswear has died down, this is yet another example of that. I was the only person watching this shirt, it sat for quite awhile, and I haggled on price.

Nice find, LC! I've noticed eBay has been much more favorable this past year as well. Thank goodness! More grail items for us :D

Found an L.L. Bean field coat with thinsulate lining today, similar to the one pictured, but with an older tag. Appears unworn. $6.99.
