i posted this over at AAAT, but didn't get a response.

and not exactly a thrift shop find. i scored it on eBay for what i believe to be $65. anyway, i was just wondering if the jacket is made-to-measure. any clue?

Greetings,
This is my first post to this fourm, and am happy to be part of this growing community. Today I went into my local Salvation Army store to see what I could find and I hit the mother load.. I found a pair of AE bit loafers in black, in like great new condition. The soles and heels have little to no wear and the vamp just needs a little cleaning and polishing. They were marked $10.00, I almost felt guilty when I purchased them. I can not wait to wear these, I have always wanted a pair of bit loafers. Image
Well done!

Found this Press Donegal tweed at The Bargain Barn, Sharon, Conn. this morning, in their "Posh" section, so it was $20. No tweaking necessary, and it has the Coveted Hook Vent.

Patrick - That is quite a find indeed.

Patrick-That is a beautiful coat. I haven't had much luck with thrifting since relocating to Philly.

Supposedly Bryn Mawr Hospital used to have a great thrift shop. In general I would hoof it out to the Main Line (though I am not much of a thrifter).

I scored pretty big (at least compared to my usual scores) today.

LE Blackwatch (I think) BD

Image

LE Blue OCBD

Image

LE Yellow OCBD

Image

LE Tie (the tag says 50% wool, 50% mohair: what would this tie be called?)
Image

And the big find, a BB Cardigan vest (cotton)

Image

This has the original BB tag, plus a tag from Filene's Basement

Image

Now for the big question: what could I wear the BB with? Trousers, shirts, ties, jackets, I'm open for all suggestions.

All this for less than $9.

Conor - Good score! I'd wear that vest with or gray flannel pants or khakis, blue OCBD and that knit tie. Blue blazer on top would not hurt, either.

Conor,

The shirt isn't quite blackwatch, but it's nice regardless.

The tie would just be a wool (blend) knit. I'm pretty sure mohair is a type of wool.

I love the cardigan vest. Pair it with khakis or flannels, like PC said, or even jeans. Blue or ecru OCBD (maybe even white). Unpatterned jacket, if any jacket at all. I wonder how old the vest is?

Thanks for the replies and information guys.

I have an additional question though. You both recommended khakis, but which color khaki? I mean would British tan khaki work? I'm not sure if it is too close to the vest. I haven't tried it yet, and I guess I'll just have to see. I'm excited regardless. My wife isn't so happy though. Between the way I've started dressing and my pipes, I think she is getting the old man vibe a little too thick.

Good scores indeed, Conor.

You will enjoy those Lands End oxfords.
