Congrats on landing the job! Beautiful tie, too.
Not a job, but I'm thrilled to be starting medical school in August.
That's fantastic, congrats, Reuben!

Now you have a better reason to wear all those medical emblematics you have

No, I am not standing next to the world's smallest light house.

Brooks Brothers tweed jacket, repp tie, and belt, L L Bean yellow OCBD shirt, Jim Thompson pocket square, Lands' End cotton twill trousers, and Allen-Edmonds shoes.

Sick as a dog yesterday. This, believe it or not, is an improvement. Tabasco Plantaneros cap from Ebbets Field.

^In my drinking days I never got sick. (Besides throwing up a lot.) My theory is that any germ that entered my system either died immediately from alcohol poisoning or got a DWI on the way out.

Pleased to announce I am more or less returned to health and I have a wonderfully slouchy Chipp sport coat ready for closeup.

That will probably have to wait because we got about a foot and a half of snow yesterday.

Very nice Lee Lo!

Lunch today with the Classic Beauty! It was 46º and overcast today... but without the threat of rain. One of the great joys of a long and successful marriage (55 years this August for me) is that one keeps thinking his/her partner keeps getting better looking! This, despite Optometrists and Ophthalmologists telling you your vision is getting worse and worse! No matter, she's still a "Babe" to me.

This is what I was wearing:

The jacket ain't Ivy, but I don't mind. I always marvel at the weight of the old Harris Tweeds from Dunn. It's thick like a steak.

Very cool, Roycru!

Here's one of me from 1961, one of the few college pictures I have other than Police Mug shots for such offenses as underage drinking and general rowdiness. I was nineteen at the time this picture was taken. It was the University's group shot of a Business Honorary society's members.

Yup, that's a 3/2 roll BlackWatch sport coat.

Notably, my behavior improved by a lot after I met the Classic beauty in 1962. She woulda walked out on me in a heartbeat if my bad behavior had re-emerged.

Sorry to hijack the thread but to continue the walk down memory lane... I'm 19 in the first shot and 20 in the second. Would have been 1979-80.

Bill, I, too, have few photographs from my time at college. Contrast that with the hundreds or even thousands of photos that exist for most of today's college kids.

Sartre: GREAT PIX, but wait... doesn't everyone say that Ivy died in 1967?

You really do have "THE LOOK" in these photos, Sartre. Classic Ivy in both pix!

Thanks, Bill and Ensiferous. What stands out in the popular narrative of preppy is outrageous colors, patterns, and a sort of in-your-facedness about how you presented yourself (too-short trousers, popped collars, no socks on even the coldest days, eccentric-as-hell L. L. Bean boots, etc.) – but at its base the style was conservative and built on the classics.
