I have a Palm Pre with the ringtone set to "Older Phone." It's a traditional rotary phone ring. I hate musical ring tones.

I chopped up a song from the trad Irish band "At First Light." A pretty energetic uilleann pipes/flute intro that I like. I couldn't get behind any of the other ringtones in my phone (LG Ally).

"Vibrate".

My iPhone is a very usefull tool, but I still hate cell phones. Everybody is yack yack yacking all the time, and people think they have a license to interrupt you 24/7. I don't like giving my numer out when I can help it.

Basically the same for me. When I dont have it in my shirt pocket though I use the duck quack. Never come across someone else using it.

I'm a big fan of vibrate, too.

Sometimes, however, you've gotta hear it.

Haven't heard that duck sound...got a link?

Amen to that, Scott. I love my iPhone (I have the older one...not the i4 with all the problems). The apps are amazing. I have whiled away many an hour on flight delays reading the NYT, Stratfor, Epicurious and countless other electronic attention diverters. Being as I'm a consultant, and my phone is my only "office" number, it's a little tough to just ignore it. I do try to set boundaries by leaving my phone in my office at night (downstairs in the den, and not on the nightstand). It also gets switched off or left in the car during golf.

Every once in awhile, while driving, I turn off my phone, toss it in the back seat (to resist the tempatation to hit the power button), turn off the radio, roll down the windows and just enjoy the relative silence. We forget how nice silence can be. Too much noise in the world.

My cell phone ringtone is an old-fashioned ringer.

Vibrate. I never changed the ringtone on the BB so it just sounds like a phone. No need to get fancy

This is what seperates men from women. I keep my phone in my pocket all day every day. When it rings, which it thankfully rarely does, it vibrates in my pocket and disturbs no one but me. Unfortunately, for women, they don't have pockets, so their phones are either on, ringer up to loud, in their purses, intrupting my meeting, or on vibrate which they don't hear, causing my wife to miss my call.

Mine varies from tones to vibrate depending on what profile I have selected.

I use a standard telephone ring and few Béla Fleck tunes.

"If I Should Fall From Grace WIth God" by the Pogues. Surprises the hell out of people.
