First harvest with the new boomstick. Over all, we had a slow hunt. The only shot that I fired this morning was the the one that bagged this wood duck. Had I seen them a half second earlier, I could have quite possibly gotten the pair. This is a perfect woody specimen.

We were stationary -- waist deep in a swamp. Good fun!

Off to chase some quackers again this weekend.

Should the hunt prove to be fruitful, I'll post some more pictures.

Last minute shopping with Mrs. TMMKC, the matinee performace of Christmas in Song at a local playhouse, early church, dinner at my sister's house then home for a nightcap by the fire. It will be a small miracle if I can squeeze in a workout. Merry Christmas, all!

I hope no one is offended by all of the dead waterfowl photos of late...

Another fruitful weekend pursuing the quackers:

2 drake/hen mallard pairs from Sunday morning. It's a neat thing to work mallards in with calling and watch them float down in your decoys. God, I love this sport.

Good hunting, Jordan - how do you fix them to eat?

Here's an appropriate emblematic - ducks with shotguns :)

Love the tie! Shame it's a poly blend. If it were a little cheaper I would probably pull the trigger anyway.

The mallards we pluck, gut and freeze them whole. Lots of ways to cook a whole bird.

The wood ducks we breast out. These are great when marinated overnight in a teriyaki or soy sauce mixture, then wrapped in bacon and grilled.
